Friday, 5 February 2027, and the weekend either side of it.

That date is not a guess. The festival takes its date from its own name, so it moves with the calendar and never needs announcing. The programme for the weekend does need announcing, and that comes from Terry.

What happens.

Ocean Cabin hosts it. Terry and Ernestine run the games on the lawn themselves, the way they always have, and the cay fills up for the weekend with boats that planned their whole season around being here.

Cruising guides describe the anchorage taking well over a hundred boats across the weekend, and the sailing as the largest C-class sloop regatta in the Exumas. We have not counted the boats ourselves, so take those as the guides’ numbers rather than ours.

The sloop racing. Bahamian sloops, sailed hard, in the sound off the cay. It is the reason a lot of the fleet comes.
The games on the lawn. Run by Terry and Ernestine, on the grass in front of Ocean Cabin.
The kitchen, flat out. Ernestine cooks through the weekend. This is the one time of year when sending your order ahead is not politeness, it is the difference between eating and not.
The anchorage. Boats come down the chain for it and raft up for days. If you are sailing in, come early.
